We are Lisa and Matthew and we are excited to become parents through adoption! We have been together for eight years and happily married for three. We both have loving, supportive families and our home is filled with love and laughter. We can’t wait to bring a child into our lives and share our love of life with him/her.
About Us
We love to travel, see the world, relax and have fun. We’ve been all over Europe, cruised the Caribbean, and love Mexico which is where we got married. We like learning about different cultures, places and people. We spend time together exercising, going for walks, and taking day trips. We are very close to both of our families and spend time together during most of the holidays. They are our biggest support system.
We are a dedicated, hardworking, reliable, devoted and compassionate couple who enjoy working and spending time with children. We live in a 3 bedroom suburban home in a growing community. Mostly new families live in our neighbourhood, and there are two parks with another one on its way.
Lisa’s View of Matthew
I know Matthew will be a good parent because of the way I see him interact with his nephew. They play hockey, baseball, video games, and go fishing or camping in the summer. Matthew is warm, supportive, fun, and loving. He never tires from playing with the kids and he will make an amazing dad someday! It is these qualities that attracted me to Matthew.
Matthew’s View of Lisa
Lisa is a good role model and a terrific teacher. I know she will make an excellent parent one day, especially when I see her and my niece spend time together. They put nail polish on each other, play cards or board games and in the summer they build sand castles, go swimming and skip rocks at the beach. They often go bike riding, play ping pong, bocce ball or toss a ring on the cone. My niece adores her. Lisa is loving, affectionate, caring and has a heart of gold. She will make a wonderful mom!
About Matthew
Background
Matthew is fifth generation Canadian. He has a large close family whose background is Irish, English and German. Matthew grew up in a rural area with a very active and fun family. They took trips to Florida and Mexico. He and his family went hiking, skating, fishing, camping and to the cottage.
Education and Career
Matthew graduated from Niagara College with a Law and Security Administration Diploma. He presently works as a child and youth worker in an all boys youth detention centre. Matthew is an excellent role model for these boys who are in conflict with the law. He consistently encourages them to become responsible young adults, builds their self esteem and recognizes their achievements.
Interests
Matthew is a big Toronto Maple Leafs fan and likes the Dallas Cowboys. He loves the outdoors, especially camping and golfing. He also enjoys ice fishing with his friends. He leads an active, healthy lifestyle. He exercises at the gym three to four times a week and tries to eat healthy. However, there is always a time when he craves cheese popcorn or nachos.
About Lisa
Background
Lisa is third generation Canadian. She has a close small family whose background is Ukrainian and English. Lisa grew up in the city and her parents separated when she was 7. Lisa and her mother spent time going to the movies, shopping, playing board games, and traveling whenever possible. Lisa and her father would go tobogganing, ice skating, fishing and swimming. They often went to the movies, took day trips, and went a couple of times to Myrtle Beach and Florida. Lisa has a half sister who is ten years younger than her and she went into the delivery room when her sister had her baby boy.
Education and Career
Lisa graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Law and History. She went to teacher’s college for one year. Lisa presently works in a high school teaching grade 11 and 12 Law/History. Lisa has a good rapport with her students. However, she is serious when she needs to be and her students often go to her for advice or as someone who will listen to them. Lisa helps coach the girls’ recreational dance team twice a week.
Interests
Lisa loves to dance and act and she is not afraid to speak or perform in front of a crowd. She took tap and jazz lessons for 9 years and continues to perform in talent shows and air bands with other colleagues at work. Her favourite song to dance to is: “You Shook Me All Night Long” by AC/DC. She also loves the beach and enjoys hiking, shopping, and running. Lisa goes to the gym two to three times a week and tries to maintain a healthy diet. However, she sometimes craves chips or chocolate covered almonds. Lisa and her family are big Detroit Red Wing fans and there is a bit of a rivalry between her husband, and her family.
Values
We have a trusting, loving, honest and open relationship. We instill these values with the kids we work with and with our niece and nephew. We believe in having a strong work ethic, doing well in school and of course having fun. The qualities and activities that we mentioned earlier will be similar to what we instill and demonstrate with your child. We love spending time with children and your child will be filled with unconditional love.
Our Relationship with You
We look forward to becoming parents and would like you to know that we are willing to have a fully open adoption. We understand the benefits of maintaining an open relationship with you and your child, as well as any extended family members you may have, through e-mail, photos, and visits. We want to do whatever is in the best interest of your child. In addition, we will include the birth name in the adopted child’s name and create a Life Book.
