Our Family

We have been married for 10 years, and our relationship is a very solid and happy one.  We share a friendship where we can talk about anything with one another.  We believe our strong faith in God, and our love and commitment to each other have built a strong foundation for our home.

We are blessed with a son, Thomas, who has just turned 6.  Thomas has brought so much joy to our lives, and we know he would be a terrific brother for your child!  He is so excited about adopting.

We also know that our extended families would welcome an adopted child with open arms.  Chris has 3 cousins who have each adopted several children.

We are Catholic and would raise your child in the Catholic faith.  All of Chris' extended family, who live close by, are also practising Catholics, so we enjoy a great sense of community when we get together, as we share the same values.

Your child will have grandparents and lots of aunts and uncles and cousins to provide love and support to them.  In total, Thomas has 16 cousins living nearby between the ages of 1 and 16, and 3 more babies are on their way.  These babies are going to be looking for another playmate!

Our Home

We can offer your child a life growing up on a small hobby farm (52 acres), just a 5 minute drive from Kitchener, Ontario.  We enjoy the country with all the benefits of the city just down the road!  Our house is totally renovated with all new furniture and appliances.  There is a large deck at the back, and lots of mature trees and green space surrounding the house. 

We grow many kinds of vegetables on this farm and sell them locally at the farmer's market.  As a partner in the family market gardening business, Chris works with his parents and brothers in all aspects of running the farm.  

About Chris

Chris is 6'2" and has blue-grey eyes, dark brown hair, and is built with a strong physique.  Chris' background is German on both sides.  He is easygoing, hard working, and he loves the outdoors.  In his spare time he enjoys playing with Thomas, gardening, going for bike rides, and playing the piano.  Chris also enjoys playing pick-up hockey in the winter months whenever he can.  

Chris is a high school Math Teacher, and has been teaching for 12 years.  He has a Masters degree in Mathematics.

About Joyce

Joyce is 5'7" and weighs 150 lbs, and has blue eyes and blonde hair.  She is energetic, caring, and hard-working.  Joyce is trained as a Primary/Junior Teacher and taught for several years when we were first married, but since Thomas' arrival, she has had the pleasure of being a full time mom at home. 

Joyce often helps out with the market gardening work on the farm, with harvesting, washing, and preparing vegetables to sell at the market.

Joyce loves hosting friends and family for meals and get-togethers, and she arranges frequent play dates for Thomas.  Joyce works out regularly at the gym and enjoys outdoor pursuits like cycling, hiking, canoeing, and camping. 

Joyce's background is Scottish on both sides.  Joyce has 1 older brother (computer programmer) and 2 younger sisters who are both married, working in careers, and now wanting to start families.  Joyce's siblings all live in Ottawa, Ontario.

About Thomas

Thomas is 51" tall and weighs 65lbs, and is in excellent health.  While he is one of the youngest in his Grade 1 class at school, he is also one of the tallest boys!  He has blue eyes and blonde hair, and a strong build.  Thomas is very sociable and energetic, and has always interacted with other children in a loving and caring way. 

Thomas enjoys sports, and is playing soccer (his favourite) this spring at a nearby community centre.  He has been taking swimming lessons since he was 3 years old.  Thomas wants to play recreational hockey next winter. 

Our Favourite Things

We are a down to earth family and we love nature and the outdoors.  Our favourite pass times are spending time with extended family and friends, as well as traveling, hiking, cycling, RV camping, and visiting the cottage. 

Your child would treasure many happy memories of visits to Grandpa and Grandma's cottage near Lake Huron.  A typical afternoon for your child would be spent at the nearby beach, splashing in the water and playing in the sand, and also playing at a nearby playground.  In the evenings, your child would enjoy the walks down to the lake to see the sunsets, and the campfires back at the cottage, along with marshmallow roasting.

Our Parenting Beliefs

We want our children to know God loves them, and to understand that home is a place where they can always feel sheltered, safe, and cheered on in their endeavours.  We feel that children learn best when surrounded by unconditional love, patience, and good role modelling.  To give your child the best start in life, Joyce is planning to stay at home with your child until he/she is in school full time, or perhaps longer. 

We promise to offer your child all the guidance they will need in order to pursue their desired education and training.  We will expose your child to a variety of extracurricular activities to help them discover their interests and abilities.  Each of our children will be recognized as invaluable and individual as the other, and will be nurtured according to their needs, and according to their natural talents and interests. 

Our Relationship With You

We welcome the opportunity to meet with you and hear about your hopes and dreams for your child.  We would be happy to work together with you in an open adoption relationship, at a level that's comfortable for both of us.  We envision this relationship to include the exchange of letters, photos, and visits.  We want your child to grow up with a strong sense of self, knowing their heritage, and we believe that this relationship will reassure your child that they are loved by you. 

We plan to create a continuing "life book” for your child, which would include any items that you may wish to send your child over the years, such as letters, pictures, and cards. 

In Closing

Thomas joins us in wishing everyday for that little boy or girl to be adopted into our family.  He is so excited at the thought of having a little brother or sister to love, for always.  We hope that we have told you enough to show that we have a lot of love and devotion and a good life to give to your child.  We would be honoured if you would consider us as adoptive parents for your expected child.
