We are Robert, Alison and Katelyn and we are so excited to welcome a second child into our hearts, family and home through the gift of adoption. We enjoy the fun that life can bring and take every opportunity to laugh and explore the world around us. We appreciate the decision you are making and we admire your courage to consider adoption. We hope that reading about us will not only give you a sense of who we are, but that it will also give you an idea of the loving and secure home we can provide for your child.

ABOUT US…

Throughout the years that Robert and I have been together as a couple, and now as parents, we have learned a lot about ourselves and each other, and as a team we have built a home full of love. Through hard work and commitment, we have gained a deep respect and lasting love for each other. For both of us, our wedding day signifies the day that we each married our best friend. We are both born again Christians and were raised in loving, Christian homes. As a family, we regularly attend a local Baptist church.

ABOUT ROBERT…

Robert is patient, kind and honest, and he is a very loving and devoted husband and father. From the first time I met him, I was drawn to his wonderful sense of humour and warm-hearted personality.

Robert has a real love for the outdoors and he enjoys biking, canoeing, hiking and even yard work. Above all, he has a genuine love for children and he is an awesome Dad to our daughter, Katelyn. Watching Katelyn’s eyes light up when Robert enters the room, makes my heart melt. They have a wonderful father-daughter relationship and some of their favourite things to do together include: walks to the park to play on the swings, ‘horsey’ rides on Daddy’s knees, and my personal favourite…daily tea parties they have with Katelyn’s teddy bears and dolls. Robert is such a wonderful Daddy, so fun and energetic, and I know that your child would be so loved by him too!

ABOUT ALISON…

Alison is nurturing, compassionate and is a very loving and patient wife and mother. She has such a beautiful smile and it was exactly this that initially attracted me to her.

Alison has many interests, but she especially enjoys anything that involves being outdoors. She loves to take Katelyn and spend time on the nature trails near our home. You never know what ‘treasures’ they will find and bring back home to show me. Alison is so good with Katelyn and I love to watch them together. Whether they be sitting quietly and reading books, baking chocolate chip cookies together or being silly and dancing and singing all around the house, Alison is such a wonderful Mom and I know that she will be just as loving and kind with your child too!

ABOUT KATELYN…

Katelyn is a beautiful, energetic two and a half year old little girl. She is definitely a gift…happy, healthy, full of love and thriving! We can’t imagine life without her. She has a ready smile for everyone and she loves to laugh and giggle. We enjoy how curious she is and how every day is an opportunity for new discoveries. She loves books, music, water and is especially fond of our cat, Spanky.

With Katelyn’s huge smile, gentle touch and loving personality, we know that she would make a really good big sister. It would be so nice for your child to have a big sister who is also adopted and can share in that life experience as well.

FAMILY LIFE…

We live in a small town and our house is situated in a new subdivision. We have a fenced in yard with a sandbox and a swing set. We like to spend time together as a family enjoying our home, whether it be doing a little gardening, playing in the backyard or nearby parks, or taking walks and bike rides in our neighbourhood.

Another interest that we share includes our love to travel. We especially had a really great time at Disney World and we can’t wait until we can go back and experience it again, but this time through the eyes of Katelyn and your child!

The family cottage is a great place to spend weekends and family vacation time. We have great fun together with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, as we go swimming, jet skiing, tubing and even four wheeling on the back wood trails near Algonquin Park. We also have fun boating and canoeing to the waterfall at the end of the lake. A cottage highlight is hiking nature trails and picking wild raspberries along the way. It sure makes yummy homemade jam!!

OUR PARENTING BELIEFS…

We are overjoyed about the prospect of becoming parents again through adoption. As parents, our hopes and dreams are to have fun and enjoy each and every moment, cherishing every memory along the way. It is our desire to provide your child with a safe, loving and happy home.

Our hopes and dreams for your child will be to help them to become the person they want to be. We will offer your child the space to discover their uniqueness, the support to realize their dreams, and the encouragement to explore their world. We will offer all of our guidance and support to help your child reach his or her goals in life. As far as education is concerned, we will help your child to obtain as much education as they are capable of and interested in. We will never push your child beyond their ability.

As far as discipline is concerned, we do not feel that corporal punishment achieves anything and we were not raised in this environment. We will discipline by explanation, time outs, removal from a situation and rewarding good behaviour. Most of all, we treat each other with respect and we will respect your child at all times.

OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU…

It is important to us that your child knows their adoption story and the special way that they came into our family. Your loving sacrifice will always be honoured and remembered. We are both very comfortable with an open adoption, including sharing in a middle name for your child. We look forward to meeting with you, and we would be so happy to build a relationship that will last our lifetimes through letters, pictures, emails and visits. We have a wonderful relationship with Katelyn’s birth mom and we would love to have the same with you. We look forward to discussing with you, the type of relationship that you would feel comfortable having with us.
