Parenting is a lifelong commitment with many challenges and rewards. It is important to understand what parenting will require of you. Your counsellor will help you look at what you would need to do to prepare to parent your baby, as well as direct you to resources in your community. We can also include your key family members and support people in the counselling process.
Here are some questions you will want to consider:

Will I be parenting on my own?
Where can I live with my baby?
What kind of help is available?

Beginnings’ satellite offices offer items such as diapers, formula and other useful items. Most of our locations also offer prenatal and parenting classes and groups for new moms. We refer you to other community partners who can assist you with raising your child such as the YWCA, Early Years Centres and your local Community Health Centre.

Can I continue my education?
Can I still choose adoption later if parenting doesn't work out?
