Parenting is a lifelong commitment with many challenges and rewards. It is important to understand what parenting will require of you. Your counsellor will help you look at what you would need to do to prepare to parent your baby, as well as direct you to resources in your community. We can also include your key family members and support people in the counselling process.
Here are some questions you will want to consider:

Will I be parenting on my own?
Where can I live with my baby?

Look into your housing options before your baby is born. Some possibilities include living with your parents, living with a friend or relative, or getting an apartment on your own. Finding a place that is safe and affordable is important. Consider your childcare options in each situation.

What kind of help is available?
Can I continue my education?
Can I still choose adoption later if parenting doesn't work out?
