Aimee and John
Hello from John and Aimee
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us! We are a loving and happy couple who have been married since the year 2000. Sometimes we can hardly believe it!
We have always wanted to be parents, but had no idea where that journey would take us. It has brought us to adoption, and to you. We believe that we are meant to become parents through adoption. We have so much to offer – a comfortable home, a welcoming community, and most of all our unconditional love.
Becoming parents will fulfill a dream that we’ve had for many years. We look forward to the day that our family becomes complete!
A little bit about us
We are a happy couple who loves spending time together. We enjoy outdoor sports, travel, and adventure. We love experiencing different cultures and trying different foods!
On the weekends we enjoy cooking, going to the movies, eating out, and sharing meals with our family and friends. We go cycling together in the summer and snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter. We are lucky to live in a city that has many cycling paths and is surrounded by parks and green space.
We have been fortunate enough to have visited many different parts of the world, and to have seen some incredible and beautiful things. We’ve met many interesting people, and learned about the way they live.
We both work for technology companies, and benefit from great diversity in our workplaces. Our colleagues come from all over the world, and many of them have become our friends.
Most of our friends, neighbours, and siblings have young children, and we are really looking forward to joining them as parents! When a baby comes into our lives, we plan to take a full year away from work. We’ll spend the first month together, and then Aimee will stay home for seven months, and then John for four. We can’t wait to share our lives with a child!
I’m the oldest of two children, and my parents were both immigrants to Canada. My mother is of Asian and Hispanic descent, while my father is from Eastern Europe. My parents worked hard to provide their children with a better life than the ones they had, and taught us the importance of hard work and education.
Thanks to their efforts I became the first person in my immediate family to attend university. I graduated with a degree in Engineering, and have been working for technology companies for over fourteen years. I’m very proud of the success I’ve achieved in my career and I enjoy the challenge of working in a field that is always changing.
Outside of work I love to spend time outdoors, and I am a very active person! I compete in triathlons (swim, bike, run) as well as marathon running. In the winter I enjoy cross-country skiing, ice skating, and snowshoeing.
When I was growing up my life was filled with a mixture of foods and traditions from different cultures. I hope to continue this with my child, as well as incorporating traditions from their culture of origin. I hope to raise them with the values that my parents taught me, and share with them my love of the outdoors.
I grew up in a small town, and I’m the oldest of three children. My parents were both born in Canada but have English and German heritage. I was raised as a Christian and my family regularly attended the United Church.
Ever since I was a young child I’ve been curious about the way things work. This led me to study engineering in university. Now I have a job where I design tools to help people communicate. My job has taken me around the world, and I work with people from many different countries every day. I enjoy the challenge of solving problems and constantly learning new things.
My hobbies include cycling, canoeing, home renovations, and weekend barbecues. I enjoy doing yard work and spending time outdoors. When something breaks, I’m the one my family and neighbors call to help fix it. I have a workshop filled with tools, and I’m looking forward to teaching my son or daughter how to build and repair things.
I make a great cup of hot chocolate, and am a good listener. I can’t wait to have someone call me Dad!
We live in an older home in an established neighbourhood in the city. We’ve lived here since late 2001, and in that time have renovated our house extensively. It’s now very comfortable and modern inside. We also have a spacious yard with lots of room to play outdoors!
Our home is located on a quiet dead-end street. It’s a small and friendly street where all the neighbours know one another and socialize regularly. Every summer we have a block party where the street is closed to traffic and families get together for a barbecue and games!
We love our neighbourhood and community! It’s a place where children can walk to school. Parks, churches, a library, as well as outdoor swimming pools are all within walking distance. Most of our neighbours have young children, and we agree that it’s a great place to raise a family!
Our future family and promise to you
It’s just the two of us right now, but we hope that will change soon! Our dream is to be a family that loves to spend time together. We look forward to sharing our favourite activities with our child – going for hikes, paddling a canoe, cross-country skiing, and riding our bikes together. Aimee can’t wait to buy a jogging stroller and go running with a little one. She’s looking forward to teaching him or her how to ride a bike and bake cookies! John is looking forward to taking a little one for rides in a wagon, building snowmen, and teaching him or her how to catch a fish!
As the child grows we want to travel as a family and experience different and ways of living. We will teach him or her to be compassionate and kind towards others, while always feeling proud of themselves and their heritage. Most importantly, they will always know that they are loved.
It’s important to us that the child is baptized and will learn about God. We will raise them in the Catholic faith and attend church as a family.
We would be happy to share the child’s life with you in any way that you feel comfortable. We promise to always exchange emails, letters, and photos with you, and to visit in person if you wish. We believe it’s important for the child to know their story and know that they were loved from the very beginning.
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us!
