What do birth parents look for when choosing a couple for their baby?

The reasons birth parents choose a particular family are as varied as the birth parents themselves. We do our best to honour the requests of birth parents, while ensuring the best interests of the child. Since we are a Christian agency, many of the birth parents who come to us are looking for families with Christian beliefs. Most are also looking for a two-parent family so that the child can grow up with both a mother and a father. Some birth parents will prefer not to have people the age of their own parents, while others value the wisdom and experience of older adoptive parents. Many prefer that their child be the first for a childless couple, while others want their child to have siblings.
